Call for Proposals: Understanding the Use and Impact of Price Data in Health Care

A new solicitation from the RWJF Quality/Equality program seeks to fund empirical studies with strong research designs that would contribute to our knowledge of the use and impact of health care price data, with the goal of providing reliable and generalizable evidence to inform policy makers and delivery system participants and to help accelerate progress toward using price information effectively. Research, including descriptive and analytic studies, could focus on measuring how widely price information is used in health care, assessing awareness of price transparency on the part of consumers and providers, exploring the impact of price data on behavior by delivery system participants, and analyzing public policy related to the use of price information in health care.

Project funding will range from $100,000 to $250,000 to accommodate studies of 12 to 24 months; a maximum of ten studies will be funded. Applicants will initially submit brief proposals of four pages or less. Successful applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal.
