A HCFO-funded study [1]by Kathleen Adams, Ph.D., Emory University, was cited in a CDC report [2] on the trends in smoking before, during, and after pregnancy. The reported referenced Adams’ finding [3]that comprehensive tobacco control policies are needed to significantly reduce smoking among pregnant women. Adams also found [4]that an increase in cigarette taxes and prices as well as full worksite smoking bans were effective in increasing quitting rates among pregnant women.
