In the Morning eHealth [1] report, Darius Tahir of Politico featured findings [2] from R. Adams Dudley’s HCFO-funded study on telemedicine, which emphasize the need for changes in medical education to reflect the growth of virtual care. Dr. Dudley and colleagues highlight the important role for academic medicine in “performing research to identify best practices in telemedicine, developing standards of care, and educating physicians to actively and critically engage with novel delivery platforms.” In his HCFO-funded study [3], Dudley and colleagues examined the processes and quality of virtual medical care for minor acute illnesses to inform stakeholders about monitoring and paying for virtual care and to identify ways to improve this model of care delivery.
