Findings from a HCFO-sponsored study led by Bradley Herring, Ph.D., were featured in a recent article on the webstite of American Medical News. The article, "Mining for Medicaid gold: Health plans' latest profit strategy [1]" highlighted findings from Dr. Herring's grant [2] on the effects of Medicaid managed care. His study found that physician and hospital participation in Medicaid rose when states contracted with Medicaid HMOs, but that did not necessarily mean that patients experienced better access to care.
