Deborah Peikes, Ph.D., received the Article-of-the-Year Award from AcademyHealth and the National Institute for Health Care Management Foundation's Health Care Research Award for a publication incorporating her HCFO-funded work on disease management programs. The article , "Effects of Care Coordination on Hospitalization, Quality of Care, and Health Expenditures of Medicare Beneficiaries" appeared in the February 2009 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
