The Washington Post Wonkblog quoted Randall Brown, Ph.D., Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., regarding his HCFO-funded study on disease management and care coordination in the Medicare program. Brown noted that the strength of the research design, a randomized-controlled trial, bolstered the validity of their findings. Brown and colleagues demonstrated that care coordination programs could be cost neutral if they incorporated frequent in-person contact along with several other distinguishing characteristics.
