The Wall Street Journal highlighted findings from a HCFO-funded study that examined the features of value-based insurance design (VBID) plans and their impact on medication adherence. In the study, grantee Niteesh K. Choudhry, M.D., Ph.D., Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and colleagues found that plans that were more generous, targeted high-risk patients, offered wellness programs, did not offer disease management programs, and made the benefit available only for medication ordered by mail had a significantly greater impact on adherence than plans without these features.
