A HCFO-funded study by James Reschovsky, Ph.D., Center for Studying Health System Change, and colleagues was cited in an Altarum Health Policy Forum article. The article explored possible policy directions to address geographic variation in Medicare spending and referenced Reschovsky and colleagues’ finding that although regional physician practice patterns do have some impact, patient health status and disease burden largely explain the regional differences in Medicare costs.
